Marjorie Taylor Greene, a far-right conspiracy theorist, has been banned by Twitter for spreading misinformation about Coronavirus.
On Sunday, Representative of Georgia’s 14th district Marjorie Taylor Greene had her account permanently suspended by Twitter after the company said she had violated its policies on Coronavirus misinformation.
After her ban, she took to Telegram about her Twitter ban, saying Twitter “is an enemy to America and can’t handle the truth.”
Marjorie Taylor Greene owns stock in three major vaccine makers. However, Greene has publicly cast doubt on and spread misinformation about the efficacy of Coronavirus vaccines. She has also falsely Tweeted that Coronavirus vaccines cause “extremely high amounts of Covid vaccine deaths.”
Her Tweet also included a misleading chart that was pulled from Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System or VAERS. This system relies on self-reported cases from patients and healthcare providers, which is highly inaccurate.
Moreover, as per Twitter policy, her account will not be unbanned as this was the fifth time Twitter warned her about spreading Coronavirus vaccine misinformation.
Katie Rosborough, a Twitter spokeswoman, said in a statement, “We’ve been clear that, per our strike system for this policy, we will permanently suspend accounts for repeated violations of the policy.”
