U.S. representative for Georgia’s 14th congressional district and far-right conspiracy theorist Marjorie Taylor Greene has made a tweet earlier today stating, “I don’t want a National Divorce, but I not will tolerate is Democratic Communism. Leave your blue votes in your blue states. If you move to a red state, learn from your blue state experience that your Democrat ways failed. Then we welcome you.”
Earlier this week, she also tweeted and retweeted about “National Divorce” scenarios. Replying to a tweet that vouched for “actively discriminating against transplants like this through legislation” and having transplants “pay a tax for their sins,” Marjorie Taylor Greene stated, “All possible in a National Divorce scenario. After Democrat voters and big donors ruin a state like California, you would think it wise to stop them from doing it to another great state like Florida. Brainwashed people that move from C.A. and N.Y. really need a cooling-off period.”
The representative faced backlash on social media for her discriminatory tweets as she did not express that she supports the same measures for Republican voters moving to Blue states. Moreover, her support for such legislation also seems contrary to several U.S amendments that seek to make voting equal and fair for all.
However, she replied to the backlash by stating, “I will NOT apologize when I muse or discuss ideas that stop Democrat voters and donors, who are moving out of the shitholes they created with their Democrat votes and donations, from ruining GREAT red states by bringing your disastrous ideas and destructive votes with you.”
She also tweeted the first amendment which states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
